The progress made in information technology has rapidly grown into various fields, including the Government. One of the things is to discuss the hot information technology and communications, e-government (electronic government), which is a use of information technology, the Internet and non-Internet in order to provide more convenient and efficient citizens and organizations, government information and services. E-government can be equated with government online Internet-based government services, such as portals, web pages, e-mail, blog and so on. E-government is not based on the Internet, such as telephone, fax, SMS, MMS, Bluetooth, CCTV, and so on.
Some countries are already quite advanced in the use of e-Government, including New Zealand, Singapore and the United States. Indonesia has begun to use the potential of e-government departments. This is something we can see that the mass media to promote government services and convenient facilities and services. Just look at advertising, in the tax department, these ads we see the government’s slogans, displayed the service tax department is no longer troublesome, simple, and provides a variety of facilities and interests of the obligation to pay taxes. Hope that this easy, people will be interested in NPWP pay taxes. Government benefits from the community who pay taxes, and the community benefit from the mitigation being considered in the performance of its obligations.
Another thing, we think it is in the public service sector. We can search for information, send suggestions to make requests or complaints against the Government service in practical ways, any such response will be faster, we feel. The nature of e-government is to provide convenient and comfortable for the members of the public access to government services, and the elimination of social interests and the government.
However, we must know some important e-government, which is computerized. The Government should consider all possible obstacles, as well as other limitations and capabilities, of course, different social conditions, language, technology, education, transportation, adaptation, and so on, which may affect the use of e-government. Although Indonesia is still relatively new in the use of e-government, but we can already feel the benefits of the present and the future of great potential that could be taken to improve the performance of public services, community, both in quality and quantity.
